Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas. Jackson definitely understood presents this year. We heard "more presents" alot. We had our Christmas morning on Christmas Eve morning because Tim had to work Christmas. It took Jackson about an hour to open 5 presents. It was great to watch him enjoying everything so much.

Santa brought Kaiya a giant bone

Playdoh from Uncle Scott and Aunt Mandee was definitely a favorite

Zoo Lights 2008!

We checked out the bigger and better Zoo lights last night. There were alot more lights and animations. There were also more animals to see.

See the monkey? This is what happened when the camera turned off just as I was taking a picture of the monkey.

Excited about numbers

I've been getting some grief from many a family member about my lack of postings. Well, not much has been going on. I've been busy being pregnant and tired and getting Christmas shopping done in between. Tim finally finished with this semester of school and clinicals and will be mostly home for the next few weeks until his final semester begins in January. Jackson is having alot of fun with daddy around. I had another appointment with the OB today and baby girl is growing and perfectly healthy. He will continue to track things closely since I technically had IUGR (Intrauterine growth retardation) with Jack but so far she feels bigger and stronger than Jackson did at this stage. For those of you who feel the need to satisfy a morbid curisoity to see my prego belly, I will post a picture when I start looking pregnant rather than just fat. For now, enjoy this video of Jackson getting very excited about finding some numbers. The video is really dark but hopefully you can make him out.

Surprise!

Jackson's little sister

Ultrasound went well. The baby is perfectly healthy and apparently a girl. I was a bit shocked only because in the ultrasound I had 5 weeks ago the doctor and I both thought we saw a little boy. I thought we would just be confirming that with this ultrasound. Surprise!

Just some pics

This little sailor outfit was worn by both of my brothers. My mom found it just in time. It fits Jack perfectly right now.

Halloween and Kennecott Copper Mine

Tim's parents are in town from Wisconsin this weekend so we went to see the Kennecott copper mine that is on the other side of the valley. Jackson loved the BIG trucks.

We managed to get Jackson in his monkey costume on Halloween. We did have to bribe him with candy but it worked! He made it to two houses before he wanted out of the costume. I wore a costume to work but did not have my camera so I will post pictures of me when I get them.

The kids

I saw my new doctor for the first time today and got to have another ultrasound. Baby looks good and healthy. The 2 short white lines on the right are the lower leg bones of one of the legs. There's a hand up by the chin and the arm is sticking out from that. We find out the sex in 5 weeks!
Finally, a recent picture of Jack! Every time I ask him if he wants a little sister or a little brother he says "no sister! no brother!" Hmmmm not much I can do about that now!

Bodyworlds

I haven't been doing much lately. Still feeling fairly crappy. This pregnancy seems worse than the first. The days are getting a little better and the evenings a little worse. Kudos to those of you who can do this more than twice. I am already anxious for it to be over. But I think that's because I am not so nervous about the end result this time! Just excited for Jack to have a sibling. I am hoping the end of the nausea/feel like doing nothing phase is near and I can get back to normal. I've got a room to paint! (As soon as we find out what it is!)
We did manage to make it to the Bodyworlds exhibit last weekend. I have been looking forward to this for about 6 months. It was fantastic. So much better than anatomy class. It was fascinating and amazing. I highly recommend it, especially if you are at all interested in anatomy. There are great exhibits of all of the organs, normal and abnormal. There are also explanations with each exhibit that tell you what you are looking at. Great learning opportunity! As for the "gross" factor.....most are encased in glass and it wasn't hard for me to sort of disassociate and forget that they were real. I was too busy being fascinated.

New Widget

Maybe you noticed the new widget on the side of the blog? Baby #2 is due on April 8th! I had my first ultrasound today and got to see little arms and legs moving! Everything looked good and we're on schedule. Now if the nausea would just go away! I have been feeling pretty awful which is why my posting has been lacking. It is much worse this time so everyone is betting it's a girl. We'll find out around thanksgiving! In the mean time....I'm looking forward to the 2nd trimester!

Jack's B-day

So we celebrated Jack's birthday with the family after we got back from our trip. I made him the elephant cake because I thought it might be the last year I could get away with it and it's yellow because that is his favorite color!

Bubble machine! One of his favorites.

Guess what we'll be doing soon!

Multnomah Falls and more!

Monday we drove out to Hood River.
The Columbia River highway scenic drive is beautiful and full of water falls. We stopped at multnomah and a couple others on the way.

Wakeenah Falls

Tuesday we went to The Grotto, a catholic sanctuary right in the middle of the city.

We also visited Vancouver fort which turned out not to be so much a fort as it was a giant department store at the end of the Oregon Trail. They traded with the Indians and decided they needed protection from settlers who ran out of supplies. But pretty cool anyway.

The doctors house

Up in the Bastion. All the cannons were pointed inside the fort.....Hmmm......

A few from the wedding

We were in Portland for Mark and Amie's wedding. Congrats guys!

Cooling off in the river after the ceremony. They were spelling out M + A. Yes there was wine involved.

And the handstand.....

Happy Birthday Jack!

We celebrated Jack's 2nd birthday at the Oregon zoo today. Our good friends Tim, Anja, Chase and Kardyn drove up from Medford to spend the day with us.

The people who serve the breakfast buffet at our hotel gave Jackson this balloon and a piece of cake this morning when we went down for breakfast.

We rode the train at the zoo which is all Jackson really cared about

We also went to the Rose garden at Washington Park
