Things I heard on NPR today

Yoga can be competitive and they are trying to get it into the Olympics.....HUH? Seriously? Competitive how? Okay...apparently I don't know that much about Yoga.

A levee that failed in Missouri this morning was breached after a muskrat bore a hole into it and water leaked through.....What! So I'm thinking if a muskrat can cause a levee that is supposed to be holding back the MISSISSIPPI RIVER to fail then it must not be a very good levee.

I've been tagged! I must list 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Here goes......

3 joys
1. Jackson of course! I knew being a mom would be rewarding but I didn't know it would be so much fun! I laugh everyday.
2. Family...I'm quite proud of our little family and my husband and happy to be so close to my parents and siblings.
3. Being a PTA....I can honestly say I love what I do when I'm not at home with Jackson.

3 fears
1. Losing a loved one
2. Lack of good health
3. Teenage drivers

3 goals
1. Finish the dang yard
2. Keep exercising
3. Keep up with getting my digital pics printed and put in albums

3 current obsessions
1. My garden (the zucchini is huge already!)
2. I'm kind of a news junkie
3. Little House on the Prairie...I know...it's weird...I started watching it with Jack, probably because there are no commercials, and it has become a habit. Maybe it's the simplicity of the storylines....

3 random/surprising facts about yourself
1. I get stressed when the house is messy
2. I have a hard time with change
3. The older I get, the less tolerant of the heat I am

I never knew a balloon could make him so happy....

Last weekend we were at the grocery store and Jackson noticed the balloons at the checkout. The bagger pulled one down and handed it to Jack and ohmigosh the squeals of delight that came from my child!!! He laughed at his balloon all the way to the car and all the way home. And once we got home he squealed at his balloon until I got tired of pulling it down from the ceiling for him. Simple pleasures.

Carousel

We took Jackson to the Zoo last night for the grand opening of the carousel. He was apprehensive to say the least. They hadn't even started moving yet!

He did a little better when they moved to the bench but he still had the "I think this is supposed to be fun but I'm not quite sure" look on his face.

My dad caught the "essence of Jack" on camera

Curb appeal and I found the camera!

Wow....I've really been slacking in my blogging duties. We've been busy doing yard work in between cold-fronts and thunderstorms. I'm starting to wonder if it will ever feel like summer. Although it has been nice not to have to water or turn on the air-conditioning. Anyway, I semi-re-lanscaped the front gardens with a little brick wall and new mulch. I'm happy with the way it turned out and it only took 4 trips to Lowes and 3 weeks worth of Jackson's nap times to get it done! Now we have a little more curb-appeal. Or at least we're not the crappiest yard on the block. I also really did just find the camera after not seeing it for a couple of weeks. Apparently Tim was trying to keep Jackson from getting his hands on it and put it in the curio cabinet. So that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

These are from back when it was summer for a couple days. I was trying to get the garden weeded and planted so I distracted Jackson first with the hose and then with the sprinkler. Much to my surprise he loved it!

Then it was time for his first popsicle which he also loved...

So much that he stole daddy's too!
