So he does listen

While I was nursing Emery, Jackson read us a story. Guess he listens better than I thought during bedtime stories!

Cabin Fever

Having not left the house in a week, cabin fever was starting to set in. So we took the kids to the zoo this morning to enjoy the beautiful (FINALLY!) weather and get me out of the house.

Awww...baby geese

Just Jack

He said: "I'm sticker boy!"

He found the ski helmet cousin Jackie sent him and had to wear it while riding his bike...

.....and while eating dinner.

A little over a week

Jackson used to sleep with his arms in this position too!

Looking more like daddy every day.

Our good friends the Eisenbrandts moved back from Oregon (yay!) the weekend before Emery was born. They came over to meet Emery yesterday and Jackson and Chase became fast friends again.

Happy Easter

We took Jackson to an Easter egg hunt yesterday. As you can see we had rainy, cold weather. Thankfully it lasted about 60 seconds as it was more of a walk and grab rather than a hunt.

So we saw the Easter bunny and then headed home.

Jackson had fun hunting for eggs this morning.

Jack & Emery

Jackson has been very good with her. He is always asking where she is. This is his first time holding her and he was very gentle.

My fluffy white robe from the hospital. Seriously, the swelling in my face is ridiculous. I still can't open my eyes all the way.

Emery comes home

We came home yesterday and Emery is doing great! We're all a little tired but happy to be home.

Jackson's reaction when we got home.

Hanging out in the hospital with Dad, getting ready to go home.

Going home outfit.

The night before you go home, the hospital does a special dinner for mom and dad. They brought in a table and then set it all up for us. For hospital food it was good!! Of course my favorite part was the cake.

More Emery

Jackson said, "Oh, she's so cute."

So everything went well. We got the call at 2 pm to get here ASAP. I was induced at 3, epidural at 6 and started pushing a little after 8:30. Then I had to hold off pushing by 9:30 because the doctor hadn't arrived. She couldn't wait though and he ran in just in time to catch her.

And Wait.........

What a frustrating way to have a baby. Still waiting at 1 pm. I received a call at 10:00 that 2 more people came in in labor but they would get me in today per my doctor's order. And I could go ahead and eat something light! YAY! So we wait......

Induction Day

Let me fill you in on the realities of having a scheduled induction. Mine was scheduled for today so I called last night to confirm. They told me to call at 7 am to make sure there weren't already too many people in labor but to be ready to go at 7. Also nothing but clear liquids after midnight and nothing after 5. So I said "Okay! Thanks! Bye." Then an hour later it dawned on me. NOTHING TO EAT AFTER MIDNIGHT! And my response was okay, thanks!??? What I should have said was are you insane?? I am not coming in to lay on a table, go to sleep and wake up an hour later without my appendix! I will be pushing a human being out of my body! That might require some energy. Not something I really want to do when I am starving. Anyone who has had a baby knows you get ice chips while you are in labor and you are ravenous after it's over. When I was induced with Jack, it was not planned and I was grateful I had decided to have a big breakfast that morning. And it was still over 12 hours before I had something to eat again. I realize there is always the possibility of a c-section and that's likely why they tell you not to eat but you would be laboring for hours before an unplanned c-section......plenty of time to digest. So the request not to eat seems rather insane to me. I didn't sleep that well and woke up starving at 3:30. So I cheated and had a banana. I called the hospital at 7 and was told it was too crazy and to call back at 8:30. So we wait.......................
